Biographical Information

JOHN MCLAREN has successfully operated in the finance and accounting fields for over 30 years, providing financial expertise to small and medium sized companies as a commercial banker, senior executive and consultant. He has extensive experience in structuring commercial credit facilities to finance working capital, accounts receivable, inventory, equipment, commercial real estate, mergers & acquisitions and start up capital.

In the accounting field, McLaren has served as the Vice President of Finance for a commercial equipment distributor. In addition to management of the accounting function, McLaren negotiated the favorable restructure of the company’s bank credit facilities; produced budgets and cash flow projections to finance acquisition of a subsidiary company; established procedures to improve collection of both current and delinquent accounts receivable; upgraded hardware, operating and accounting systems for all workstations and network servers; and successfully orchestrated the early dismissal of a product liability lawsuit during the discovery/ deposition phase of the litigation.

McLaren’s extensive commercial banking experience includes the start up and management of a successful indirect auto dealer financing division for a local community bank. As the SVP Division Manager, McLaren managed the profitable, rapid growth of a $100 million prime auto paper portfolio. To fund divisional growth, McLaren packaged and negotiated several multi-million dollar loan portfolio sales to local lending institutions, while retaining lucrative servicing rights. Additionally, he negotiated terms of a commercial paper loan securitization conduit with a well known investment banking firm.

McLaren also served as a member of the senior management team that successfully turned around and sold a troubled lending institution. As the Chief Credit Officer and Loan Committee Chairman, McLaren was responsible for all credit underwriting, loan servicing, and collection for the bank including Commercial, SBA, Real Estate and Consumer Lending Divisions. Additionally, he successfully managed all significant litigation issues, including a multi-million dollar lawsuit that survived an appeal to the California Supreme Court. Prior to McLaren’s senior management positions, he was actively involved in the business lending field with several commercial banks. He specialized in providing financing to middle market companies seeking operating and growth capital.

As a private consultant, McLaren has delivered accounting, litigation management, expert witness and mediation services to a number of small businesses and attorneys. He has also provided pro forma budgeting and cash flow analysis services to companies looking at possible acquisitions in the restaurant, metal fabrication, and safety products industries.

McLaren attended California State University and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance and Accounting. Additionally he earned a California Teaching Credential and is authorized to teach business education, accounting and computer science at the adult education level.
